Pemikiran Pendidikan Islam Menurut K.H. Abdul Wahid Hasyim

Abstract

From an Islamic perspective, knowledge is regarded as an integrated and unified entity encompassing both religious and secular sciences. Consequently, there is no dichotomy or discrimination in their development. This perspective is consistent with the educational thought of K.H. Abdul Wahid Hasyim, who emphasized the integration of religious knowledge and general sciences as the foundation for the reform of Islamic education to address the challenges of an ever-changing era. This study aims to examine K.H. Abdul Wahid Hasyim’s concept of Islamic education and analyze its relevance to the development of contemporary education. The research employs a library research approach by reviewing and analyzing various literature sources relevant to the focus of the study. The data were collected from books, scholarly articles, academic journals, and other academic documents discussing the concept of Islamic education and the educational thought of K.H. Abdul Wahid Hasyim. The findings indicate that K.H. Abdul Wahid Hasyim’s educational thought is founded upon four principal pillars: the strengthening of religious values, the development of students' potential, the cultivation of social awareness, and the promotion of nationalism. Furthermore, his educational philosophy remains highly relevant in addressing the challenges posed by globalization and the rapid advancement of science and technology, as it advocates a balanced integration of religious and general knowledge while fostering individuals with strong moral character, intellectual competence, and social responsibility
